So how is it free?

A few short ads between puzzles pay the bills. Rather skip them? There's an optional upgrade. Nice to have, never needed to learn a single thing.

Puzzles

200,000 puzzles that fit you like a glove.

Every puzzle is picked for your rating, so it's never boring and never hopeless. Nail one and the next gets a little sharper. Miss one and it lands in your review right away, then comes back a few days later, so the lesson actually sticks.

  • From your first fork to grandmaster combinations
  • 60 themes to master, each with bronze, silver and gold
  • No energy bars. No daily cap. Solve all night if you like.

Good questions

Is MateMind really free?

Yes, really. Every puzzle, every course, every bot and every game review is free, with no energy bars and no daily limits. A few short ads keep the lights on. If you'd rather not see them, there's an optional upgrade, but you never need it to learn or to play.

Do I need an account?

No. Open the app and start. No sign-up, no email, no password.

I'm a complete beginner. Is MateMind for me?

Absolutely. Eighteen playful stages teach you how every piece moves and how the rules work, one small task at a time. Your first puzzles are easy on purpose, and the difficulty grows with you.

Can I play full games against the computer?

Yes. Choose from sixteen bots with their own personalities, from 400 to 2800 rating, or set any strength with a slider. After every game you get a free review with your mistakes and the better moves.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Puzzles, courses and bot games all live inside the app, so you can train on a plane, in the subway or anywhere without signal.

How does the rating work?

Everyone starts at 650. Solve a puzzle without help and your rating goes up; a mistake, a hint or the solution costs points. Every puzzle has its own rating, so it's fair. A new rank waits every 100 points, all the way to Grandmaster at 2400.

Which devices does it run on?

MateMind is an iPhone app and needs iOS 17 or later.
